SONGSPEAK

jamie

Jamie Bousquet was born on November 12, 1975 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts.

He attended Northampton High School with Matt Larsen, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1997 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Jamie has a wife named Jo from Australia, and together they have a daughter, Quinn.

Jamie’s interest in music is more in the role of bystander than participant. He never played a musical instrument, but enjoys many different types of music, which is evident when looking at his iTunes music library.

Jamie’s got into music later than Matt. The first cassettes he owned were in seventh or eighth grade. They were “Polka Party” and “In 3D” by “Weird Al” Yankovic. He later found himself getting into AC/DC, and the rest is history. Among his favorite bands now are Pink Floyd, Barenaked Ladies, the Toadies, and the Foo Fighters. Jamie used to make mix tapes for his friends long ago, and with the Songspeak tapes, that tradition continued.

While Jamie busted his ass for four years for that engineering degree, he discovered that was not his London calling in life. He has worked a variety of jobs in his short life thus far, starting in high school at Stop & Shop, the local supermarket. He worked in the Graduate Admissions Office at WPI, at the Smith College bookstore with Matt, then with O.R. Colan Associates, agents of the Massachusetts Highway Department. He then held odd jobs with Motherwear in Northampton and Berkshire Biological Supply before settling in a nice, cushy job, again with Matt, at Silver Screen Design. Matt left that position long ago, but Jamie still works there.

In his free time, he enjoys birdwatching and playing poker. Online or for realsies. And watching Lost and listening to Lost podcasts. It’s a way of life, really.

And songspeaking. Always songspeaking.
